You will need a large enclosure, no glass aquariums. Wire and screen cages are the best. Do not use rough wire or screen it could damage their snout. Their cage will need to be tall with branches, leaves, and a water dish.

Their prey includes domestic crickets, mealworms, cockroaches, king mealworms, and flies. They will attempt to swallow any animal smaller than they are, so I do not reccomend any small lizards in the cage with the chameleon.

Handling It is not a good idea to handle your chameleon too much because they have a diversity of actions. Life expectancy Most chameleons live 15 to 20 years.

True chameleons are not typical pets, and they are not for everyone. If you are thinking of getting a true chameleon, please think twice.

These animals are difficult to keep, even for experienced herpetologists. Prior to buying, please research your purchase carefully. Learn about the species, their needs, natural history. Then, if you still choose to buy, get your chameleon from a known, reputable breeder.

Be aware that caring for a chameleon is an expensive and time-consuming undertaking. Be sure you are prepared to make this sort of committment before getting a chameleon.
