WHAT IS THE COCKROACH?

Cockroaches are commonly found in our homes and workplaces. Because cockroaches are so comfortable living with people, it is hard to control them unless you know some facts about them. Proper sanitation will limit the cockroach population. If you have them in your home you should not leave any unwashed dishes or uncovered food out for them to find at night. The are also drawn to sweet liquids so clean up and juice or cola spills.

You should also keep arean behind appliances and other loose objects clean of all crumbs. Remeber, if there is no food for the cockroach to find they will go away on their own. Kitchen waste should be kept in a cockroach proof container as should all loose food in your cupboards. If you feed your pets indoors, you should not leave pet food or water in exposed areas overnight. You can prevent cockroaches from coming into your house by sealing all cracks in your houses external foundation that are 1/8 of an inch or bigger.

Also check for openings around your air conditioner, windows, doors, pipes, etc. Cockroaches live in paper, cardboard, lumber, firewood and other loose wood materials in or around your home. If you eliminate these then you will have less cockroaches. You can also kill cockroaches with white chineese poison chalk. This proves that they can be killed at a cheap price. This approach is non toxic and very affordable. Most dollar stores have this chalk for one dollar or less and it lasts for months in the areas you apply it on. It also works on ants, wasps and bees too. Traps should be placed where cockroaches are likely to travel to and from feeding and hiding areas. It is best to place traps against walls and in corners where both ends are unobstructed. Reposition the traps if no cockroaches are caught after two or three nights. The number of traps required for a home or building will vary with the kind of cockroach present and the severity and location of the infestation.
