WHAT IS GROUNDHOG DAY?

On February 2, the Groundhog awakens from it's long winter sleep, called hibernation, and comes out of it's home, called a den. If it sees its shadow it will go back in, and we will have another six weeks of winter. If it does not see its shadow it will remain awake and active, and we will have an early spring.

The most famous Groundhog Day Celebrations are in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. This is also where the film Groundhog Day takes place.

Yes, there is another groundhog, a great and powerful marmot who lives up here in the wild wilderness lands half-way between the equator and the north pole, and who probably knows more about the weather than anyone else around. Copyright restrictions forbid us from telling his name or showing any stuff about him, but we can still lead you through the marvels of that mysterious myth we call Groundhog Day.
